BBQ With a Purpose

The inaugural Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition brings pitmasters and backyard grillers to the Mississippi riverfront for a KCBS-style showdown with $1,500 in total purse money on the line. Presented by Billy Sims BBQ, every entry supports conservation efforts through the Partners for Conservation Foundation.

Teams compete in two categories — St. Louis Style Pork Ribs and Chicken — judged on appearance, tenderness, and taste. Whether you’re competing or just showing up to eat at the public tasting, this is a River Days highlight you won’t want to miss.

Register your team for the inaugural Smoke on the Water BBQ Competition. Pick your category, bring your best recipe, and compete for your share of $1,500 total purse. Plus some serious bragging rights!

• Open to all skill levels
• Categories: St. Louis Style Pork Ribs (6 slabs), Chicken (10 thighs)
• Cook’s meeting and meat handout at 6:00 AM
• Chicken turn in at 11:00 AM
• Ribs turn in at 12:00 PM
• Public tasting at 12:30 PM
